Adding CO-OP mode to Regulator City

More game development this week, taken straight from the developer’s TODO list and task management, here’s an overview of what has been fixed, changed, updated, improved or generally worked on in the Orangepixel Universe.

Working on split-screen mode.. had an idea how I might be able to build this into my framework, and the first step was surprisingly easy: Rendering the world twice. Next step, make the other screen show another part of the game world 😏

 

Two different views now working, hard-coded 2nd view, and the world doesn’t know about it (so items disappear if player 1 moves away from them). That should be the easy fix tho. The harder one is making Lights render correctly on the 2nd view!

 

Toying with the new player-select screen, but this feels a bit overkill on information for the 2player mode 🤔 needs more work!

 

Made the screen less crowded with just the one block of characters, shared by both players. And showing the character callsigns again (because people on the discord seem to REALLY want that).. looking better with each itteration !

 

For now.. I’m happy with the result! All info there, doesn’t feel chaotic or cluttered.. time to move on to other stuff !
