Gauntlet of Power get’s some work done on a fully functional, releasable DEMO for June’s Steam Next Fest, and Regulator City regains the Sewers as means of getting into buildings and missions!
A very productive week where the focus was on two games at the same time. Adding achievements to both games, and also fixing bugs and tiny new features in both!
Spending most of the week implementing and testing the save game and load game functionality. To top that off some fun work introducing the K9 dog unit and giving it some great functionality
With the core gameplay being on track, this weeks focus was on adding and working out the meta game features to unlock characters, collect items, and upgrade player stats.
This week most of the work has been on improving and adding a bunch of new features to the built in level editor for Regulator City. These features then allowed to design bigger and better maps with some of the new gameplay features like ventilation shafts, lasers, and hidden collectibles

A new character enters the Orangepixel Universe, The Janitor, and you might start seeing him pop up in more games pretty soon! This week also saw Gauntlet of Power getting really close to feature-complete and ready to ship status!
The dungeons have never looked cleaner! As we polish up the Gauntlet of Power game and getting it ready for release. This week we added character unlock tokens, Rune’s and an unexpected visit in the new intro animation!
Work on Space Grunts 3 continued some more in the first week of January 2024, so space got more animated with characters, enemy intelligence, and an inventory system!

A very simple, and fast solution to adding fake lights to any flat 2D scene. It works on both high-res scenes and low (pixelart) scenes. Using a couple of sprite-images and a little blending mode.
I wanted to create a node-based mission screen, but had no real idea where to start. Eventually I ended up with a fairly simple solution which works and is easy to implement.. just how I like my code!
No open-world is complete, without inhabitants ! Even in such a post-apocalyptic world, there has to be some survivors and interesting people to make the world believable.
